“Nothing is worth more than laughter. It is strength to laugh and to abandon oneself, to be light. Tragedy is the most ridiculous thing.”
– Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was a famous female painter from Mexico. Her art did not find much fame until decades after her death. Most of her work revolves around colorfully painted self-portraits. In her teenage years, she was injured in an extremely horrific bus accident. This event lead to countless severe issues with her health throughout her lifetime. The accident also likely contributed to her being unable to bare children, which played a large part in her artwork. She was married to Diego Rivera, another artist, and with him spent many decades in a mostly tumultuous relationship. View her paintings here.
