I love animal parody videos. I just do. I’m not really a cat person, I’ll admit it. But I do LOVE love love Orange is the New Black. That said, this is amazing. Watch below, from the Pet Collective.

And for fellow dog lovers like me, check out the parody of Godzilla – Pupzilla.

Or maybe you’re more of a Pug person.

Or, like the German Boy, maybe you’re completely obsessed with Game of Thrones.

Although, I love Dexter more.

And of course, Girls.

And my personal favorite… The Royal Tenenbaums parody featuring a variety of pets. ADORABLE.

Everything terrible is something that needs our love.

— Sigrid Nunez, The Friend

When a long, long time later, he stares down at the silent blue marble of the earth and thinks of his sister, as he will at every important moment of his life. He doesn't know this yet, but he senses it deep down in his core. So much will happen, he thinks, that I would want to tell you.

— Celeste Ng, Everything I Never Told You

— Lauren Groff, Matrix

It struck her at some point that all life must necessarily feed on willful delusion.

— Téa Obreht, Inland

These were the soap operas of life, the melodramas, the mini-crises that occupied our attention while famine, war, and death raged across the human experience.

— Katherine Center, Get Lucky

CLEMENTINE: This is it, Joel. It's going to be gone soon.
JOEL: I know.
CLEMENTINE: What do we do?
JOEL: Enjoy it.

— Charlie Kaufman, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Dignity is an affectation, cute but eccentric, like learning French or collecting scarves.

— Dave Eggers, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius

I am a lonely painter, I live in a box of paints. I'm frightened by the devil & drawn to those ones that ain't...

— Joni Mitchell, A Case of You

Our loved ones will leave us, the memory of them will dissolve in the tumult; nothing will remain. Just a few clothes in the wardrobe and someone in a photograph, no longer recognized. The most precious memories will dissipate. Everything will sink into darkness and vanish.

— Olga Tokarczuk, Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead

I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

— Marilyn Monroe

He taught me the meaning of pain. Pain without reason.

— Charles Bukowski, Ham On Rye

But the world is a nicer place when you think everyone is telling the truth. There are no agendas, no hidden motives; no one lies for dramatic effect.

— Claire Fuller, Bitter Orange

Grief ... gives life a permanently provisional feeling. It doesn't seem worth starting anything. I can't settle down. I yawn, I fidget, I smoke too much. Up till this I always had too little time. Now there is nothing but time. Almost pure time, empty successiveness.

— C.S. Lewis

At first I felt dizzy - not with the kind of dizziness that makes the body reel but the kind that's like a dead emptiness in the brain, an instinctive awareness of the void.

— Fernando Pessoa

How disappointing, when people succumb to what is expected of them.

— Lauren Groff, Arcadia

Oh, it's so hard to love when love was your great disappointment.

— Tori Amos, Rattlesnakes

Grief is a cruel kind of education. You learn how ungentle mourning can be, how full of anger. You learn how glib condolences can feel. You learn how much grief is about language, the failure of language and the grasping for language.

— Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Notes on Grief

She was less frightened also because life had taken on the quality of a dream, a dream too terrible to be real. It wasn’t possible that she, Scarlett O’Hara, should be in such a predicament, with the danger of death about her every hour, every minute. It wasn’t possible that the quiet tenor of life could have changed so completely in so short a time.

— Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind

Life prevails. How strange and wondrous. In the midst of death, life prevails, calls to us, begs us, says, Come, please, don’t you dare waste this precious gift.

Those faces you see every day on the streets were not created entirely without hope: be kind to them: like you they have not escaped.

— Charles Bukowski

Oh, if only God did not seem so furious and vengeful! Oh, if only the minutes did not go by so slowly and the house were not so still! If only she were not so alone!

— Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind

A great sorrow, and one that I am only beginning to understand: we don’t get to choose our own hearts. We can’t make ourselves want what’s good for us or what’s good for other people. We don’t get to choose the people we are.

— Donna Tartt, The Goldfinch

There were always in me, two women at least, one woman desperate and bewildered, who felt she was drowning and another who would leap into a scene, as upon a stage, conceal her true emotions because they were weaknesses, helplessness, despair, and present to the world only a smile, an eagerness, curiosity, enthusiasm, interest.

— Anaïs Nin

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand... there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold.

— J.R.R. Tolkein

People were the worst of gods and the worst of animals combined. Perhaps this kind of violence was the only message they would ever really understand. Something so terrible they would never want to see it happen again. Maybe they would be less warlike now, because they had finally become frightened of themselves. It would be so human of them, wouldn’t it? To be thrust into goodness by something vast and evil.

— Michael Poore, Up Jumps the Devil

Oh my lonely heart
She could hang around for days
Will never leave the house
Something more than just a phase
She'd eat occasionally
Just like she would when she's alone
She'll play the game for free
Until she dies, until she dies

— Billie Marten, She Dances

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with.

— Mark Twain

But if you hold me without hurting me, you’ll be the first who ever did

— Lana del Rey, Cinnamon Girl

The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.

— Albert Camus

Better off as the fool
Than the owner of that kind of heart
They don't know you anyway
They don't know you and they don't watch you walk away

— Ryan Adams, Nobody Girl

I don't understand why
Most of the time
I'm living my life all wrong
I felt nothing at all
The freedom of the fall
My smile is on the backseat, the back wall

— Billie Marten, Mice

There is a place in the heart that will never be filled; a space. And even during the best moments, and the greatest times, we will know it.

— Charles Bukowski

What we share may be a lot like a traffic accident but we get one another. We are survivors of each other. We have been shark to one another, but also lifeboat. That counts for something.

— Margaret Atwood, Cat’s Eye

stay out of churches and bars and museums,
and like the spider be
patient—
time is everybody’s cross

— Charles Bukowski, How to Be a Great Writer

He does not mean that it does not hurt. He does not mean that we are not frightened. Only that: we are here. This is what it means to swim in the tide, to walk the earth and feel it touch your feet. This is what it means to be alive.

— Madeline Miller, Circe

“I don’t know,” she said dully and felt that she didn’t care. This was one stone wall too many and she suddenly felt so tired that her bones ached. Why should she work and struggle and wear herself out? At the end of every struggle it seemed that defeat was waiting to mock her.

— Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind

Sometimes the brain takes a while to catch up with the heart.

— Loretta Nyhan, Digging In

"But, Scarlett, you need kissing badly. That’s what’s wrong with you. All your beaux have respected you too much, though God knows why, or they have been too afraid of you to really do right by you. The result is that you are unendurably uppity. You should be kissed and by someone who knows how.”

— Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind

Now there is one thing I can tell you: you will enjoy certain pleasures you would not fathom now. When you still had your mother you often thought of the days when you would have her no longer. Now you will often think of days past when you had her. When you are used to this horrible thing that they will forever be cast into the past, then you will gently feel her revive, returning to take her place, her entire place, beside you. At the present time, this is not yet possible. Let yourself be inert, wait till the incomprehensible power ... that has broken you restores you a little, I say a little, for henceforth you will always keep something broken about you. Tell yourself this, too, for it is a kind of pleasure to know that you will never love less, that you will never be consoled, that you will constantly remember more and more.

— Marcel Proust

When he died, all things swift and beautiful and bright would be buried with him.

— Madeline Miller, The Song of Achilles

Several times in his life he had felt an intense desire to start over, to somehow turn back the clock of his life to a point where he might, if he were careful, avoid the many mistakes he had made the first time around.

— Larry McMurtry, Comanche Moon

How rude of the dead to die. How selfish. Wherever they are, no pain, in eternal darkness or wondrous afterlife. And here we are, tears streaming down our cheeks, the knotted stomach and clammy palms, a feeling akin to falling, in a dream that won’t end.

— John Kenney, I See You’ve Called in Dead

“She’s in the love business but love ain’t been kind to her."

— Larry McMurtry, Comanche Moon

Normality is a paved road: it's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow.

— Vincent van Gogh
