Eureka, I have found Postmodern Jukebox!
Who knew that something so stellar & awesome could come from that hideous Miley Cyrus episode last week at the VMAs. I was randomly discussing the incident with a friend yesterday, having not seen the video yet myself. Our shock-value obsessed culture both bores and disgusts me.
SIDENOTE: Speaking of Miley Cyrus, this letter from a mother to her daughter after seeing it gives me hope for the future. (Okay, not that much.) There need to be more parents like that who will be open and honest with their kids.
Anyway, one thing lead to another, and then Trace showed me this amazing cover of the song ‘We Can’t Stop’ by Postmodern Jokebox. (PS: It’s the first video in the playlist below.)
In a word: Amazing! I am hooked. Not to mention it’s a genius idea to begin with: Postmodern Jukebox take a ridiculous pop song every tween & their dog are into, and sing it in an old-fashioned, doo wop, 50’s sort of style. Featuring Scott Brandlee, Robyn Adele Anderson, The Tee-Tones.
Check out the playlist below for some of the ones I dig the most.
